I love LO and I am willing to do any other test you suggest to find the problem. In addition, each distribution releases their own packages of LibreOffice. Thanks for your replies! I must add to my description that even with an empty spreadsheet the normal operation is unexpectedly slow…. Version details Version: 7. Antialiasing and hardware acceleration options Do not make any difference.
But in general it is a bit faster than normal operation. It is really strange because all other software works very well and fast in my computer… Thanks! I find this with the snaps libre office, the scrolling is and operation is very slow in writer it is worse.
That may clear it up. If not everything i did was uninstalled x64 custom install; installed x86 typical install; uninstalled; installed x64 typical.
Was like night and day in performance. I guess that you simply moved to newer version in the process, which gave you the huge performance gain due to fixes included.
Had issue on latest version also. I uninstalled thinking maybe it was x64 version only, and installed x86 with typical option and all performance issues went away. I uninstalled x86 and re-installed x64 using typical and it is still good. I had this issue for quite few ver now. I had a fresh install and the lag was terrible.
I just did this: uninstalled and reinstalled using Typical settings. Problem solved!! Libre office writer is really slow English. I have restarted in Safe Mode and the situation has improved a bit. Is there anything else I could try? I would just like to add that we have now simplified a lot the spreadsheet, removing any extra complexity and just leaving a high number of columns with some numbers on them Any other tips to try to improve the situation?
Format is ods, the size of the document is KB for the first example and KB for the document with columns. Although the problem was originally reported by a coleague who uses 7. Both of us are using Windows Already tried see above , does not solve the problem for any of the of me tested versions 6, 7.
I have to agree: LO, now version 7. That effect is variable but does not seem to depend on specific documents; the same documents may be opened fast or veeeery slow we are talking minutes here. The same is true for dialogs: they may appear immediately, but it sometimes may last really long until they appear. The change came from version 6 to version 7. I use LO even for lessons at our university, but it is starting to get difficult to even be able to show the presentation in time for the lesson to start….
I have three calc spreadsheets that have external data links to each other. Additionally, once the problem starts, it gets increasingly worse until calc suffers a creeping hang.
But if I bring up two or more the problem starts and even if I close out all but one, the cpu usage continues to creep higher. I have to close out all spreadsheets, even those not involved in the data exchange before the problem clears up.
I have tried all of the suggested solutions above and while some seemed to help at first none of them eliminated the problem. I have not noticed any additional memory usage or other resources, only creeping cpu usage.
